After graduating from USC with an MFA in Cinema John Syrjamaki worked on features, commercials, industrials and educational films in a wide variety of capacities including location manager; sound recordist; transportation coordinator; production manager and producer. He joined the Director’s Guild of America in 1979 and worked as an Assistant Director on feature films and television shows for the next seventeen years. His credits include Assault on Precint 13, The Blues Brothers; Return of the Jedi; Dark Shadows and Northern Exposure.
In 1996 John became the first Director of Physical Production for the University of Southern California School of Cinema and Television. While at USC he developed and implemented production procedures and policies as well as a comprehensive safety program for student fimmakers. He joined the staff of LMU in 2003 with a deep commitment to making the School of Film and Television a premiere media school.
