Rev. Patrick J. Connolly, S.J. is a professor of mass communication in the LMU School of Film/Television. Although he do not teach production courses in film and television, he is very interested in production and believes strongly in the tremendous power of what one might call "the language of multiple moving images." Consequently he haa been involved in documentary film production during more than two decades of teaching at LMU. Recently he has become fascinated by the interactive media of CD-ROM, DVD, and, of course, the World Wide Web. Especially exciting is the capacity of these latest media to employ the multiple languages of human discourse: text, voice, music, still images, and even full motion video in what is commonly called multimedia. In addition to being a professor, he is also a Roman Catholic priest and a Jesuit, that is, a member of the religious order, the Society of Jesus, founded by St. Ignatius Loyola.
