Director, Public & Industry Relations and Engagement
With nearly 15 years of public relations experience, Julie Porter oversees SFTV’s external communications, media and public relations, marketing and content creation, increasing engagement with key audiences including media, prospective students, alumni and industry. Since joining LMU, Julie has worked to raise the visibility and reputation of the school, securing impactful stories about SFTV’s programs, faculty and students in top-ranked outlets including the LA Times, The Hollywood Reporter, KPCC and Variety. She serves as the talent liaison and publicist for SFTV’s acclaimed interview series “The Hollywood Masters.” Prior to descending on the bluff, she was director of publicity at Concord Bicycle Music where she developed award-winning press campaigns for musicians such as Esperanza Spalding, Christian Scott, Kurt Elling, Paul McCartney, Dengue Fever,and Carole King, and booked and represented talent at the Grammy and Academy Awards. Julie is a native Angeleno, founding member of L.A.’s Ladies Social Dining Club and doting mother of the adorable, instafamous #viviennelake. Julie holds an M.A. from USC Annenberg School for Communications and Journalism.
