Screenwriting
All great films and television shows begin with a story served by the written word. Develop your unique voice, build a strong portfolio of creative work that has artistic and commercial appeal, and learn how to pitch yourself and your stories to producers and networks. Harness your imagination to create compelling, authentic, and original screenplays and teleplays that will make an impression on today’s audiences.
How SFTV is Championing Neurodiverse Storytelling
Authentic portrayals of neurodivergent characters are more essential than ever, yet on‑screen representation still falls short of reflecting the real number of people with autism and the diversity of their lived experiences. To delve into this issue, LMU SFTV Professor Stacy Spruill’s Elements of Screenwriting class hosted a panel on advancing more nuanced depictions of autistic characters, featuring former Nickelodeon executive Britton Payne, LMU alum Niya Wright ’16, and autistic author Alfonso Julián Camacho. We spoke with Professor Spruill about what inspired the event and how emerging writers can help shape more accurate, multidimensional storytelling.
