Why Choose Screenwriting?

In our Screenwriting program you can turn your raw talent into a career in the film, television, and creative media industries. Small classes, with only 10-12 students in each, provide a constructive, workshop environment; you'll be able to form especially close professional relationships with professors and peers as you collaborate to cultivate your creative identity. You will also be placed in internships with the entertainment companies you most admire.

A solid foundation in the liberal arts develops your capacity to communicate to audiences while working on more specific coursework that delves deeper into their imaginations and personal lives to come up with stories that will entertain, amuse, uplift, and challenge audiences.

Through our lectures and workshops, you'll have access to the entertainment industry and high-profile insiders who've included such luminaries as Oscar-winning writer-directors Alexander Payne (The Descendants, Sideways), Brian Helgeland (Mystic River, L.A. Confidential), Robin Swicord (The Jane Austen Book Club, Memoirs of a Geisha) and television powerhouses such as showrunner Gloria Calderon Kellett (One Day at a Time) and Aaron Sorkin (Newsroom, West Wing).
