Filmmaker Bio
Hobbes Reynolds is a Cinematographer and Colorist from Houston, Texas. He graduated from Loyola Marymount University with an MFA in Cinematography and his films have won Best Texas Feature at the Lone Star Film Festival and Best International Film at Festival Internacional De Cine De La Toba.
Growing up internationally in Hong Kong, London, and Houston exposed me to diverse cultures and fostered a love for film, especially cinematography. My childhood was marked by frequent, intense hospital visits that deepened my appreciation for life’s and film’s darker aspects. Brain injuries, including six concussions, made me sensitive to light, shaping my minimalist approach to cinematography. I favor natural, simple lighting that enhances the actors' presence on screen. Inspired by the Coen Brothers, I admire art that balances darkness with beauty, reflecting life’s difficult yet hopeful nature. Their work reminds me of life’s struggles, lightened by small, beautiful moments.
"f/11 and be there."
