    • FERPA is the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act passed by Congress in 1974. FERPA is designed to protect the privacy of students by limiting third party access to student education records. It restricts what student information we can share, even to family members and friends.

If you are an LMU student and are hoping to include a guardian or family member in an   advising appointment, please note you will need to have completed an Authorization to Release Student Records form through the Office of the Registrar’s website before the appointment and have it submitted in-person to their office.
